Be it in regional areas, or in the inner city, this insulation is ideal for Victorian homes.

Victoria is a beautiful and diverse state, home to the busy day to day Melbourne’s core, the beautiful coastal views, the charm of its northern ranges and the vast landscape of its plains.

The beauty of this state is forever in contrast to its ever changing weather, the heat of the sun in summer is often followed by a biting frost; and the Winter months will bring an epic chill that will force you indoors. In both circumstances you want your home to be the ideal temperature and not have to run your AC or heater day in and day out.

Though Victorian homes are unique they do have some common features, one of these common features are the natural beauty of timber floor boards.

Whether it be polished floor boards or floor boards with carpet over the top, this type of floor is not going to keep you home at the ideal temperature for long. The unwanted temperature will rise through the timber if left as it is.

Whether you live in an old home from the last century with its timeless aesthetic or in a modern home with all the creature comforts, if your home has an underfloor area, then this insulation is well suited to the needs of your home throughout the year.

In a home with underfloor insulation the floors will now provide thermal comfort throughout the home. Your home will need less heating in the winter and less cooling in the summer.

This insulation also helps to reduce noise transition between rooms and storeys (when fitted to the upper storey floor). Heating and cooling bills are substantially reduced as the insulation acts as a thermal barrier preventing hot and cold air escaping the house. It defends against rodents taking up residence under your floor, making the ideal living situation a reality.

A home with Autex R2.5 GreenStuff Underfloor insulation is set up for the future.

If you live outside of Victoria see Polyester Insulation (Polymax) based on your location.

Save money now and forever.

PLEASE NOTE: This product is now vacuum packed at the manufacturing plant. Once unpacked, it can take a considerable period of time to re-loft (which is the process of the material expanding to the original size).

The statement from the manufacturer: "It should re-loft to the designed thickness ... however there would be many factors that could slow or stop some of this."

ecoMaster cannot guarantee that this product will fully re-loft. If you want full thickness insulation straight away, we suggest you investigate Value Poly Underfloor Insulation.

ecoMaster have made it easy for you to insulate your own underfloor with underfloor insulation.

For best results using the Underfloor Insulation, we suggest opening the packs well ahead of installing to allow the insulation to start to re-loft.

What you will need:

  • Stapler (Electric or Battery, Double Insulated)
  • Staples (Galvanised)
  • Headlamp/flashlight
  • Gloves (Garden)
  • Goggles
  • Tarps (Helps keep insulation clean)
  • Lead/Extension Cord
  • Clothes that can get dirty

Hints and Tips:

  • Maurice, ecoMaster’s Technical Director, talks about the pros and cons of all the types of underfloor insulation and how to get the best results in the ecoMaster Underfloor Insulation Masterclass. It's free!
  • We recommend polyester insulation is stapled to the joists at  00-150 mm intervals to ensure it is secure and will not sag over  time.
  • For the best and long lasting result, make sure the insulation staples being used are galvanised.
  • T50 Staples were the staples of choice of the ecoMaster installation crews. You will need 750 staples per pack of Autex Greenstuf underfloor insulation.
  • * Use a good quality stapler. Stapler Rental is available if you live in Victoria.

FAQ

Q: Can I install the Autex Underfloor Insulation (Vacuum Packed) before it has commenced its re-loft?
A: Yes. As you will be stapling insulation that is much thinner than its final form, you are probably going to staple it at about mid joist rather than on the bottom of the joist. This means that when it does finally re-loft, you will not be getting R2.5 completely across the whole joist space.

If you do decide to staple the insulation to the lower edge of the joist, you will be leaving a “rodent enabling gap” between your insulation and the timber floor above.

Q: Can Autex Polyester Underfloor Insulation be used in my Climate Zone?
A: Autex Polyester Underfloor Insulation can be used in climate zones 4, 6, 7, & 8.

Q: Do you have a warranty for the underfloor insulation rolls?
A: Autex GreenStuf Polyester Underfloor Insulation has a manufacturer warranty of 50 years (T&C’s apply).

Q: What about the installation, is there a warranty for underfloor insulation?
A: As it is a DIY product, we cannot provide an installation warranty, as the installation process is outside of our control. We only had two situations where the insulation did not hold up (when properly installed) - one was from a tradesperson actively taking it down, the other was a wombat.

Q: Is Autex Polyester Underfloor Insulation easy to install?
A: The difficulty of installing underfloor insulation largely depends on your individual home. Factors like height under the floor, joist spacing and access all play a part. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about the installation or check out our Underfloor Insulation Masterclass based on 20 years of installation experience. www.ecoMaster.com.au/ecoMasterClass

Q: What is the difference between Autex and Polymax?
A: They are very similar products. Both are the same colour - white. Despite the name, Greenstuf is actually white.

Polymax has a nominal loft of 140mm (there are some variations), we recommend that you open the packs a day or two prior to installation to allow it to re-loft. Autex Greenstuf will be much less than 120mm straight out of the pack as it has been vacuum packed.

Lastly, the length of each roll of underfloor insulation depends upon the manufacturer - so check the Specs tab carefully.

Autex Greenstuf is available in Victoria only.
Polymax is available Australia wide - Victoria, NSW, ACT, SA and WA.
